Want to help?

If you notice a major change in the behaviour of a young person, are worried or suspect depression, you can help.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO FOR YOUR FRIEND?
1. FIGURE OUT WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOUR FRIEND
Be attentive to changes in behaviour.

2. BREAK THROUGH ISOLATION
Approach and talk to your friend respectfully.

3. REFER YOUR FRIEND

Encourage your friend to see a health care professional. Don’t hesitate to get outside advice (from care providers, adults you trust, friends, etc.).

4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DON’T PLAY THERAPIST

Respect your limits. Provide support, listen and offer encouragement, but above all, remain the friend you have always been.
