Report on the 2008 Golf Tournament
$251,000 for the Mental Illness Foundation
On June 8, the Mental Illness Foundation’s team and Montreal business community reunited for the cause of mental health on the occasion of its annual golf tournament. On this sunny day, 190 golfers exchanged and measured their skills on one of the most renowned golf club in Canada; the Elm Ridge Golf Club of Île Bizard.
True to its custom, the 19th edition of this tournament, under the honorary co-chairmanship of Mr. François Côté, Executive Vice-President of TELUS Québec and TELUS Health Solutions and of Mr. Joseph Iannicelli, President and CEO of Standard Life, gave its guests the opportunity to acquire numerous prizes and package deals during its silent and verbal auctions.
“It is essential to get behind the cause” said Mr. Joseph Iannicelli, and part of it, as François Côté said, is because “the cause affects us all.”
Thanks to the hosts, Claude Quenneville, sports commentator and his brother Dr. Yves Quenneville, Psychiatrist at Notre-Dame Hospital, the expertise of Mr. Marc Brosseau, professional auctioneer from Groupe Brosseau, the sponsors and all the participants of this 19th tournament, the Foundation raised $200,000 which will be devoted to its programs and services.
The Foundation wishes to give special thanks to TELUS Inc., Standard Life of Canada, Air Canada, BMW, Charton Hobbs, Hydro-Québec, Mouvement des caisses Desjardins, Via Rail and Elm Ridge Golf Club.
